Hello, Everyone. My name is Sarong. I live in the states of Tennessee, USA. I just joined Hi5 because a Cambodian classmate requested me as a friend. I know of no one in the states to use this website; here we mostly use MYSPACE. But I notice that this site is more international/ asian oriented, which is a good thing becuase I would love to meet more Cambodians, and also hope to keep in contact with all my MDS friends.
About myself: I am Cambodian-American. My parents are from Cambodia, Takeo providence. I was raised and educated in the states for almost all my life.
This past year, I look a great adventure/risk to travel to Cambodian and decided to study there, live there for one whole year. It was a very rewarding experince and I hope to go back soon. While there, I also studied at Royal University of Phnom Penh in which I was enrolled in a Master degree program called Developmental Studies of Cambodia.
Now, I am back in the states, and am currently applying to graduate school. I would like to do my thesis in Rural Development of Cambodia. So, I might be back soon!
Sarong, There are pros and cons everywhere. Taking advantages of the opportunities around us is very important whether living in Cambodia or Oregon. I was borned and raised in Cambodia, of course, I enjoy living there. However, I like living in Oregon as well because I am surrounded by family, wonderful friends and a warm community here! What did you study at RUPP? Thank you in advance. I am sure I will find you if I will ever visit Tennessee ;-) However, please let me know if you come by the west coast next time. As the matter of fact, I just got back from Cambodia three months ago. I was there for five months. Thus, no plan for this year, maybe early next year during Khmer New Year!
We have only one temple here in Oregon. Fun! Last year, we formed some Khmer traditional games at the temples. We are planning to organize that again this year. How about over there? How big is the Cambodian population in Tennessee?
